Volunteer Spotlight– Stephanie Young
Stephanie has served as a lead volunteer in the past two Kindred Life Wheeling chili cook off events. She has given countless hours and resources to make sure that these fundraising events were a success. Stephanie attended committee meetings, made tons of chili, recruited and trained volunteers, and made raffle baskets. Her intricate efforts have sustained this ministry here in Wheeling. Stephanie has served in a behind the scenes manner, yet powerfully and importantly. Her servant heart challenges and encourages us regularly. Thank you, Stephanie, for how you’ve served so well and faithfully; you truly are a testament that there is a place for everyone to use their skills to serve!
In Wheeling, our weekly Wednesday Life Education Groups continue with a homemade meal, childcare for the evening, and life education for the parents. We’ve had a full load of speakers and topics covered lately, and are look forward to learning more about the National Louis’ Wheeling program and car seat safety this month. The teen parents also continue to work towards setting and maintaining a budget for themselves, as well as working on their emotional goals through individual and group counseling.

My name is Katie, and I am thrilled to be the Program Director of the Wheeling Area site. During college, I studied education and youth ministry. Before coming to Kindred Life Ministries I was a public school teacher, and a volunteer in many children’s programs at my church. I am also married with three beautiful young children. This position suits me so well as it combines many of my passions and gifts! Particularly I love working with teens and sharing the love of Jesus! I am privileged to work with these teen moms and their families, what a terrific year we have ahead of us!
If you are a young mother who may have questions or you are someone looking to serve a teen mother as a volunteer, please feel free to contact me at 224-280-8286 or write me at [email protected]
