Meet Team Thrive Racer, Amber Johnson. She and her husband, Zack, live in Burlington, Wisconsin with their two children, ages 1 and 3. Amber first learned about Kindred Life Ministries at a NorthBridge Church MOPS (Moms of Preschoolers) event in Antioch over 5 years ago. She has shared our passion for supporting teen parents in their journey of parenting, education and Christ’s love for them ever since as a dedicated supporter.
“I chose Kindred Life Ministries because it’s such a powerful organization that is not only impacting this generation of teen parents, but their children, extended family, and communities. The love of Christ is shown through Kindred Life’s programs, volunteers, and events that all support teen parents on their journey into adulthood. I’m grateful for the ability and privilege to run for this organization.”
After joining Team Thrive, Amber trained for her Indy Mini Marathon (13.1) mostly on the treadmill because of the terrible mid western weather this past year. Running indoors allowed her to pray on behalf of the teen parents she was racing. Zack was extremely supportive of her race.
The Indy Mini was held on a rainy May 4th, but Amber describes running on the infamous Indianapolis Motor Speedway as “absolutely thrilling!”
We are so incredibly humbled by Amber’s desire to share in our mission to cultivate growth, build relationships, and meet the needs of teen parents and their families. Thank you Amber!
