Our racing team wrapped up the year strong! We had the chance to race FOR and WITH teen moms and their children. In fact, we had two teen dads and several alumni come out and support the ministry that means so much to them! TEAM THRIVE kicked off the year partnering at the Hike for Life, sponsored by Informed Choices (IC) Pregnancy Center. Teen moms, volunteers and staff from Wheeling Kindred Life walked and jogged with our ministry partners at IC.
In July, the Antioch teen moms and supporters walked in the Antioch Walk for Freedom 5K and Mona Boelens, our own Ministry Executive Director completed the Wauconda Olympic Triathlon. August brought the Twilight Shuffle 5K with Alumni Edith Gonzalez and son Rylee Johnson. The Momentum group and friends from Village Church had a fun morning at the Bud’s Run 5K in Lake Villa and veterans Linda Carroll and Terry McDonough completed the Prairie State Half-Marathon in September.
One of our highlights this year was seeing Alumni Linda Crump complete her first Marathon with veteran Carl Festin. It was truly one of the most memorable races for our team!
We closed out the year with two final races – the Mau Family ran the Breath Deep 5K and teammates, Ken Gallo, Titus Lotz, board member Greg Steele and his daughter Laura ran the ever popular Turkey Trot 5k in Gurnee. In all, the team raced 180 miles and raised nearly $8,000.
Make 2016 the year you change a life by walking, jogging, swimming or biking! We would love for you to join us to help teen parents and their families learn to live the abundant life Christ promises. We are happy to help you get signed up this spring!
