We held our sixth annual Tee Off for Kindred Life Golf Outing on Friday, June 10th. Seventy-four golfers registered for the hot and sunny event, which was held at Pine Meadow Golf Club in Mundelein. Teams of four played eighteen holes, enjoyed a dinner program and an online auction which benefitted the young parents and children at Kindred Life.
Prizes were awarded to players who achieved the longest putt, closest to the pin, male and female longest drive, and the team with the best overall score. Andy Dreys won the award for longest putt, and Jerry Connolly snatched the distinction for closest to the pin. In the longest-drive competition, Gena Dejoseph carried home the prize for longest female drive, and Dan Weyerhaeuser claimed the trophy for longest male drive. Erik Boelens, Jack Smid, Kent DeReus, and Tim Watkins earned the best score of 60.
The golf tournament was followed by an appetizer reception, dinner program, and silent auction. Auction items included a variety of donated items, such as gift baskets, golf paraphernalia, gift certificates for local services, and overnight vacation packages. Using a bidding service called Gesture, guests were able to bid via their mobile devices all the way through the dinner program. All profits from the auction benefit teen parents and their children at Kindred Life.
Jessica and Caleb, teen parents from the Antioch site, offered a testimony about their experience in Kindred Life and how the program has helped them develop into better individuals and parents. Jessica began attending Life Education Groups just after their daughter, Olivia, was born in October 2014. Caleb attends on program nights specifically designed for dads and families.
The Tee Off Event goal was $20,000 which helps the ministry serve 3 families a year. Thanks to our faithful sponsors, golfers and dinner guests, Kindred Life raised$15,000!
